ABOUT DAVINA
Davina McCall was born on 16 October 1967 in London. She attended the Godolphin and Latymer Girls School, an independent school in Hammersmith, London.
At an early age Davina's passion for music came to the forefront, she ran many successful nightclubs in London and even appeared in Kylie Minogue's music video Word is Out!
Davina got her first TV break in 1992 when she landed a job presenting her own show on MTV. In 1995 she went on to host the ITV game show God's Gift which she presented for 3 years, before becoming the anchor presenter on Streetmate (Channel 4. 1998-2000) and prime-time cult show Don't Try This at Home on ITV1 in 1998.
In 2000, Davina was chosen to present the hugely popular Channel 4 reality show Big Brother, which she has continued ever since, hosting all ten series of Big Brother and all seven seasons of Celebrity Big Brother. Following her success in the cult reality show, Davina went on to present the Brit Awards in 2001, as well as BBC charity show Comic Relief. 2002 saw her hosting Popstars: The Rivals (ITV1) followed by The Vault and in 2003,Oblivious (both ITV1) and the reality TV show Reborn in the USA. She also host The Brit Awards for a second time in 2003.
In 2000, Davina married Matthew Robertson and the couple have gone on to have three children: Holly, Tilly and Chester.
In 2004 she hosted the new ITV1 prime time show Love on a Saturday Night and later that year, Davina was chosen to present the prestigious BAFTA television awards. Davina hosted her own chat show on BBC One called Davina which aired in early 2006. Shortly afterwards, ITV1 signed up McCall to host the BAFTA Television Awards for the second time. Soon after, Davina became the main presenter on Sport Relief on BBC One alongside friend Chris Evans. She continues to host both Sport Relief and Comic Relief for BBC One.
Davina starred in the BBC documentary Let's Talk Sex, looking at how sex education is taught in Britain (one of the countries of Europe with the highest teenage pregnancy levels), compared with The Netherlands (which has one of the lowest teenage pregnancy rates in Europe). She has also published a book under the same title. Such was the power of her work on this topic, sex and relationship education will now be on the UK curriculum from 2010 onwards.
Davina has also turned her hand at acting, appearing in Sam's Game (2001), a Friends-style TV sitcom, as well as Leigh Francis comedy sketch shows Bo Selecta and A Bear's Tail. She also provided the voice of an android version of herself for the Doctor Who episode "Bad Wolf" in 2005, and played herself as a human and subsequently as a bloodthirsty zombie in Dead Set in 2008.
Davina became the face of Garnier in 2007, and has produced several exercise DVDs alongside her personal trainers, Mark and Jackie Wren, including Superbody Workout, High Energy Five, The Power of Three and My Three 30-Minute Workouts. Her DVDs have sold well over a million copies to date! Number six Davina Fit was released in December 2009 to rave reviews.
